Job Opening: Communications Assistant

Worship Times is a small company that has been in business for over fifteen years. We are a tight-knit team that cares for each other as people, not just as employees. Worship Times focuses on website development and digital communications work with nonprofits and ministries, while our sister company Poka Yoke Design works with businesses and government entities. This position is for our Worship Times team. Our employees love what they do. We want someone who’s looking for a permanent place within our crew.

As a member of our communications team, you will have an amazing position in our company. You will have the joy of communicating directly with our partners, editing their websites and other digital communication channels, and putting their ideas and dreams into action. Other responsibilities may include drafting and editing publication materials and copy as well as helping to execute projects and strategies for our clients. In short, you will help our partners grow their ministries. You get to be the hero!

A successful candidate for the Communications Assistant position will have previous experience working in communications in a mainline protestant church and working with WordPress websites. More importantly, they will LOVE working with new people and be extremely organized. Our team leaders are not micro-managers. We hire experts and treat them as such.

This is a part-time, fully-remote job, averaging 15-20 hours per week. Furthermore, successful candidates must possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Detail-oriented and organizational skills: Juggling multiple projects is common. Strong organizational practice and a keen eye for detail are essential.
  • Interpersonal skills: A Communications Assistant regularly interacts with multiple people and is the point of contact between the company and the public.
  • Strong communication skills: The role entails writing clear, concise, and professional content for our clients.
  • Teamwork and teachability: The ability to learn and take critique from staff and clients as well as the ability to offer the same.
  • Flexibility and availability: The candidate would have flexibility, but needs to be available to communicate with clients and meet deadlines.

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Create and edit copy.
  • Social media content creation and monitoring.
  • Help in researching, writing, and editing content for distribution, including photos and videos.
  • WordPress website content editing.
  • MailChimp and Constant.
  • Understanding of theological terms and church language.
  • The ability to take a partner’s ideas and communicate those to their constituents.

 

Required Skills:

  • WordPress admin experience.
  • MailChimp and Constant.
  • Previous experience working with clients.
  • Previous experience working in ministry or non-profit communications.
  • A work space with internet that can handle video conferences and VoIP.
  • Highly organized and self motivated.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.

 

Additional Skills Helpful: 

  • Canva or other graphic creating tools.
  • Knowledge of copyright laws.
  • Google Ad words.
  • HTML, CSS, PHP and/or JavaScript experience.
  • Design or Development experience.
  • Has worked with the Worship Times systems before.

 

Work hours are somewhat flexible as you will set your schedule based on client needs. Weekday team meetings are required, but most of your time will be self-scheduled during our operating hours of 9AM – 5PM Central, Monday – Friday. Communication Assistants start at $22-$26 per hour and work 15-20 hours per week.
