St. Luke’s Episcopal in Bethesda, Maryland had an older website that was cluttered, disorganized, and choppy with a “million” different fonts as they tried to update it over the years. It was not terrible, just not everything it could or should be.

They wanted a website that was joyful, warm, and forward thinking. They wanted to welcome everyone and accessibility is part of welcome. They made sure that certain fonts were used that are better for folks with dyslexia. A website that was more accessible to the visually impaired was an important goal.

They wanted visitors and parishioners to:

  • Know this is a church that cares about the world
  • Know that God loves everyone
  • Feel welcome to come visit us and check us out

They wanted to be able to:

  • Update the news/events section easily
  • Integrate the newsletter

The primary purpose of their website was for visitors and newcomers, but they wanted to also give their parishioners a place to go for news, events, and opportunities in the life of the church, giving them a reason to go to the website.
