What You Need to Know: Identifying Fraudulent Domain Renewal Scams

December 21, 2021 by Michael Gyura Leave a Comment

Fraud Alert for Domain Renewal Scams

Every industry has some bad apples, and we want to offer a word of caution along with some advice on how best to protect yourself.

There are some domain registrars referred to as ‘domain slammers‘ who send emails urging you to renew your domain with them. Check Wikipedia if you want to learn more about domain slamming.

These emails are extremely misleading and are generally considered a scam which should be trashed right away. Their goal is to lead you to believe that your domain is about to expire and the only way to keep that from happening is to pay them to renew it right away.

If you’re not clear what company is your domain registrar you can check by visiting https://www.whois.com/. That company is the only entity that should be contacting you about your domain renewal options or other related information.

Worship Times does not manage any of our partners’ domains. Our partners maintain complete control and ownership of their domains. Your phone number is yours; your address is yours; your website’s domain is yours, too.
