Supporting Church Communication as nNeeds Change
In 2016, Germantown Presbyterian Church (GPC) was struggling to convey its identity and engage its community through its existing branding and website. The church wanted its online presence to reflect its values and aspirations, with communication that helped people understand and take part in congregational life.
GPC came to Worship Times with a clear vision: a clean, bright, user-friendly site with plenty of photos of its vibrant community. People also needed practical ways to give, register for events and access worship resources. Online giving integration, podcast and video archives, sermon audio, event registrations and e-commerce capabilities all became part of the custom-designed website.
As the church’s communication needs continued, support grew beyond the initial build. By 2020, Worship Times was serving as GPC’s Remote Assistant, managing weekly emails and accompanying graphics, updating livestream information and uploading services. This ongoing work helped the church keep its community informed and its worship content available.
Event registration brought its own practical requirements. Some registrations needed document uploads, signatures and online payments. Using Gravity Forms, we tailored forms to accommodate those steps, so the registration process could fit the activities GPC was offering.
When GPC hired a new Communications Director, the balance of responsibilities changed. The church expanded its internal capabilities, and Worship Times moved into a more consultative and supportive role. The partnership could adapt without leaving the new director to handle every question or technical task alone.
Today, that support includes event registration assistance, website updates and the creation or refreshing of pages as needed. Regular meetings with the Communications Director provide time to assess needs, troubleshoot challenges and explore ways to improve communication.
GPC’s needs have changed since 2016, but the purpose of the work remains consistent: helping its digital presence reflect the warmth, inclusivity and vibrancy of the congregation. Flexible support lets the church draw on outside help where it is useful while building on the strengths of its own staff.
