Creating a new or updated website is a significant decision for any church or nonprofit. And, while your Worship Times project management team will handle the overall process, it is important to involve the right players from your ministry.
First, no one needs to know ANYTHING about coding! We’ve got that part covered.
Second, this can be a LOT of FUN. This is a chance to share your story with the world. Literally the world! But we’ll approach the project with newcomers, members, staff, and visitors first in mind.
Third, nobody has to have a degree in communications or have EVER worked on another website project.
So…who then?
And how big should the team be?
Three. OK…maybe up to five. Remember the adage about too many cooks in the kitchen? The same is true for your church website project.
Also, it is very important to select one person to be the leader. They will serve as your communicator with your Worship Times project manager. They will also guide your website team’s internal planning and decision making process – making sure that your team speaks with one voice.
A final word about your ministry team: they need to be empowered by the church leadership and membership! It’s tough for any of us to do a good job if we don’t feel supported and are worried about someone peeking over our shoulders. Your web team is no different. Strong teams = great websites.
At Worship Times, we’re always open to having a conversation about ministry websites and communications. Please feel free to reach out at any time no matter where you are in the planning and decision-making process. We’re always here to help. Contact us to start the conversation.
